Welcome to the documentation for the Divi Events Calendar plugin! On this page, you will find all the steps you need to set up and use our plugin. Each step provides a summary of information related to that step in the process. You will also notice links to separate documentation guides and videos in the steps below. Please be sure to follow all of these steps and access the additional documentation links as needed.
This video provides a brief summary overview of the written steps outlined in the document below. You are welcome to follow the video and written steps together.
1. Install The Dependencies
Install And Activate Divi
Our Divi Events Calendar is a 3rd party addon for the Divi Theme by Elegant Themes, so having Divi installed and active is a prerequisite for installing and using our product.
Install And Activate The Events Calendar
Our plugin is also completely based on The Events Calendar, the popular free calendar plugin for WordPress. This plugin must be installed first before installing our Divi Events Calendar plugin! Otherwise, our plugin wouldn’t know what to do. Please check our Compatibility document to learn more about the relationship of our two plugins.
Disclosure: The links to Elegant Themes and The Events Calendar are “affiliate links” which means if you click on the links and purchase anything, we will receive a commission.
2. Download Divi Events Calendar
After completing the purchase, download the plugin .zip file from the orders page in your account or click the download link in your purchase confirmation email and save the file to your computer. If you purchased this product from the official Divi Marketplace, you can download the product from your Elegant Themes members area.
3. Install The Plugin
NOTE: Installing or updating this plugin may require you to clear your cache before the settings take place. This may include your browser cache, any caching plugin, and possibly even your CDN if you are using one.
4. Add Your License Key
After installing and activating the plugin, the next step is to add the plugin license key. This allows your site to communicate with our servers to ensure that you get automatic updates and support. You can find your license keys by clicking the License Keys button in your Account Orders page. More information about using license keys is available in our Product License Key Management documentation.
If you purchased From Divi Marketplace, then there is no license key to add. Updates and support for the plugin are validated using your Elegant Themes account, so just take a moment to be sure you have the proper Username and API key credentials added in the Divi> Theme Options> Updates tab in your website. Note that there is no additional license key to enter for this product, it is handled entirely by your Elegant Themes account credentials. You can refer to the Divi Marketplace Customer FAQs for more information.
5. Add Events
Before you can display events in our modules, you first need to have some events to display! As a reminder, all event management is handled by The Events Calendar (not to be confused with our Divi Events Calendar). You can refer to our guide on Adding & Managing Events to set those up. Once the event details are entered in their plugin, you can use our plugin modules to display and style the events in Divi as instructed in the steps below.
6. Add Divi Events Modules To Your Layouts
Our plugin creates new Divi modules, which you can find in the Divi Builder. Everything works just like any other Divi modules, so our plugin will be very easy to use for anyone already familiar with how Divi works.
Go to the Divi Builder and click the gray plus button to add new modules to your Divi layout. The quickest way to find them is to use the search bar and type “events.” You will then see our custom modules which are named “Events Calendar,” “Events Filter,” “Events Feed,” “Events Carousel,” “Events Page,” and “Events Tickets.”
NOTE: Sometimes the names of the modules get translated differently depending on your site language. If some are missing, please be sure to check the entire list of modules thoroughly without using search.
Events Feed Module
The Events Feed module was our very first module, and it is still probably the most versatile of them all, allowing you to display a feed of events in many different layouts with a ton of features, options, and design settings. There are so many possibilities with this module, and it can be used on any page or archive page on your Divi website. This module is also great for displaying dynamic event categories, related events on single event pages, event archives of past events, and event search results.
Events Filter Module
The Events Filter module is extremely versatile and customizable. The module works in tandem with the Events Feed module and allows you to choose and build your filters however you want. This includes the ability to add, remove, rearrange the filters and style them with tons of design settings. There are design settings for all the filters in general, active filters, and each individual filter, including the dropdown menus, giving you complete control over every aspect of the filters design.
Events Calendar Module
The Events Calendar module is the traditional month style calendar view. This module allows you to display a calendar with all the events shown on the day with a handy tooltip that appears on hover. Everything is customizable with a huge amount of content features, display options, and design settings. There are so many possibilities with this module, and it can be used on any page or archive page on your Divi website.
Events Page Module
The Events Page module is the game-changer that unlocks the power of the Divi Builder on single event pages! That’s right, with this module you can now customize the event data and build your event pages entirely with Divi using a combination of standard modules and this Events Page module. Enjoy the power to dynamically display and customize everything related to the individual event pages with all the features, display options, and design settings. This module can be used to create beautiful dynamic Theme Builder templates that can instantly transform all of your event pages on your Divi website.
Events Carousel Module
The Events Carousel module is a combination of our Events Feed module with a carousel. It is a fun way to display events and take up less vertical space than a long grid. The module includes all the expected layout options and design settings, but also includes features and settings for adjusting the carousel like navigation arrows and dots, auto scroll settings, and design settings for everything.
7. Create An Events Archive Page
By default, The Events Calendar creates a page to display all the events. This page has the slug like “/events/” after your website domain name, so it is easy to find at www.yourdomain.com/events. But it is impossible to change this layout or use the Divi Builder on this page without our plugin. One of the main reasons for purchasing our plugin is to build and style all event related layouts using Divi modules and layouts. So, the next step is to replace the default events page with one that you can build and customize using the Divi Theme Builder. It is very easy to do, and we have a full guide and video about the Events Archive Page to help walk you through the setup. Mix and match our event modules with any Divi modules to create the perfect event display!
8. Create Dynamic Single Event Page Templates
Thanks to our plugin, you can now use our custom Divi modules to build the single event pages! This is the first and only way to do this in Divi, and we are very proud to offer this as one of the main features of our plugin. We even have free demo layouts to get you started! You can use regular Divi modules along with our event modules. You will definitely want to use our Events Page module inside a Divi Theme Builder template. To learn more, please visit our Single Events Page documentation and start building beautiful custom single event pages with Divi modules!
9. Create Dynamic Event Category Templates
Another great step to take is to build a Theme Builder template for event categories. If you are using event categories to organize your events in The Events Calendar, then this is a very nice way to display the events per category. The best part is that you can create a Divi layout once as a template and apply it dynamically to all event categories to automatically display the events in each category.
